I love Cheung Chau. It is a great place to go if you are looking for a relaxing day in the sun, some beach swimming (weekdays advisable), some exploring, great photography and a tasty Cantonese style (do you like garlic?) seafood meal. You can do it in an afternoon or you can make a full day of it which is what I typically do on tour. Naturally, there is something there for everyone.

Cheung Chau Island is one of a few of Hong Kong's Outer Islands large enough to support a sizeable local population many of whom are either engaged in fishing or commute by ferry to Hong Kong Island each day.

The island is a veritable treasure trove of local culture.

Cheung Chau is locally known for it's fantastic giant fish balls and local snack food as well as reasonably priced al fresco seafood dining.
